Sharing the Joy Through the 2019 LCMS National Offering

As this year’s LCMS convention grows closer, the 2019-21 National Offering sets the tone with the theme ‘Joy to the World,’ preparing hearts for prayerful rejoicing, gratitude and bold action.

Individuals, congregations and districts who desire to directly support international and domestic mission work will have their contributions sent out to help in urban areas, with new immigrants, on college campuses, with partner church missionaries and in church-planting efforts.

With thanksgiving, the Synod also rejoices in the impact of 2016 National Offering funds that were used to support pastoral formation in Eurasia, show Christ’s love and compassion to victims in the days immediately following natural disasters, and much more.

Gifts given in 2016-18 will also help provide materials to teach grade-school students about the sanctity of human life.

“With governments legalizing and justifying late-term abortion and even infanticide, Christians need to be witnesses of the truth,” said the Rev. Bob Zagore, Executive Director of LCMS Office of National Mission. “We need to raise up Lutheran leaders who understand both the science and the Word of God. This curriculum will be a helpful step toward helping our churches, schools and parents accomplish that goal.”

Gifts to the 2019-21 National Offering can be made at any time, and congregations are invited to consider planning how they’ll participate and help spread the joy we have in Christ across national and international borders.
