Board of Christian Care

Trinity Lutheran Church’s Board of Christian Care provides assistance as needed especially to members of the congregation, but also others, in matters of social, physical, and other concerns as they arise. We provide services in the following areas:

Shut-ins

In addition to regular visits from our ministers, members of the committee visit members of the congregation who are in hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound.

Meals on Wheels

Members of Trinity Lutheran Church take turns delivering meals to members of the community who are unable to either go to the Senior Citizens Center or who have difficulty in cooking for themselves. This gives them a chance to have contact with others, as well as having a hot meal each day.

Christmas Basket

At Christmas, members of the congregation help fill and deliver decorative bags filled with homemade cookies and other food items along with a small gift and card. These Christmas bags are provided for church members in the nursing homes and who are homebound.

Card Committee

The committee sends cards to members of the congregation for confirmation, anniversaries, hospitalization, weddings, and other special occasions.

Telephone Prayer Committee

Upon request, we will include members of the congregation as well as others who need prayers for special circumstances and illness.

Prayer Calendar

A monthly prayer calendar is provided for the members of the congregation in the monthly messenger. A list of issues, names, and missionaries are on the calendar to be prayed for daily.

Bereavement

Upon request, a meal is provided for families of the church at the time of a death in their family.

Fish

We collect nonperishable items from the members of Trinity to help supply the community food pantry.

Parish Nursing

The parish nurse keeps the congregation informed through the newsletter about special health issues. Special programs are provided such as blood pressure screening and also helps the church to recognize needs in the health care area such as keeping first aide kits updated in designated areas of the church.

Transportation

Members who do not have transportation to and from church can request assistance by contacting the church office.

Stephen Ministry

A program for training and organizing lay persons to provide one on one Christian care for members of Trinity.

Emergency Relief

The Board of Christian Care is ready to offer and assist with emergency relief in a time of natural disaster or other urgent needs.
